Circuit of the Cotswolds

Event Date: 21 June 2009

The Circuit of the Cotswolds is one of the classic British sportives, now in its fifth year. You can look forward to stunning scenery and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, but extremely high standards of organisation.

The long route is 102 miles long, with a shorter option of 70 miles. The event is well placed as a final test for Etape du Tour entrants and always fills up quickly. This year the entry limit is 750 riders.

The course was designed by event organiser Jim Henderson, five times National Hill Climb Champion, from his personal experience of training rides in the area and the Tour of the Cotswolds international road race.

It is based on Witney, near Oxford. The four main climbs of Lark Stoke, Snowshill, Cleeve Hill and Corndean Lane come in the central section so if on the road you find that your legs are not up the the 25% slopes of Cleeve Hill you can take the 70-mile short route option which misses out the biggest climbs. The long route features 2,400m of climbing and the short route 1,400m.

The event commemorates the life of David Ryan and 100% of the profits are donated to charity. Last year it raised over 20,000GBP for Yorkshire Cancer Research and Helen & Douglas House.
