Event: 10 May 2014

Get involved in the two biggest one-day cycle races in the UK, the International CiCLE Classic and the Lincoln Grand Prix.

Join over 1000 riders on Saturday 26 April 2014 at the Dare 2b Rutland CiCLE Tour. Choose from four routes on Rutland’s original and best sportive, all starting at Giant Store Rutland on the picturesque south shore of Rutland Water

There is something for riders of all levels of fitness and experience. The 59 mile route is ideal for those new to cycling and cyclo-sportives, but still hard enough to provide a personal challenge. For completely new riders there is now a 21 mile option which is less hilly than the other routes. The toughest challenges come from the 100 and 75 mile options, which features the most picturesque lanes and villages the area has to offer. Taking in not only Rutland but neighbouring Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, the long route has almost 5000 feet of climbing and includes views of Rutland Water, the Vale of Belvoir, Belvoir Castle, Eyebrook Reservoir and the impressive Harringworth Viaduct.

All routes except the shortest have a feedstation, with two on the 100 mile route. The event is affiliated to Hope Against Cancer.  Contact them to raise money for cancer research and join their ever growing group of fundraising riders.

On the Sunday Giant Store Rutland will also be offering led rides from their store to watch key points of the International CiCLE Classic. Watch some of the top professional riders tackle some of the toughest roads in the area.  Sportive entrants can enter our competition to win two places in one of the support vehicles for this race.  Like our Facebook page to make sure you don’t miss the offers and competitions between now and the event.

Entrants will be able to take advantage of several offers from our sponsors and supporters, Dare 2b and Giant Store Rutland. Dare 2b will be offering a high quality event jersey at a large discount.

Giant Store Rutland will be running special offer and led rides leading up to the event.  This will include a free bike safety check, led familiarization ride, roadside repair sessions, nutrition talks and plans. There will also be good old-fashion discounts on many regularly used products, including on a Giant Starter Pack for new riders.

Visit ITP Events to enter now and like our Facebook page to be kept informed of all of our rider offers.

  1. SANTINI LINCOLN GRAND PRIX SPORTIVE

Join over 1500 riders on Saturday 10 May 2014 at the Santini Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive.  Last year saw 1300 riders tackle the Lincolnshire Wolds and surrounding area, with many staying to watch Olympic Gold medallist and Tour de France rider Peter Kennaugh of Team Sky take the win in the University of Lincoln Grand Prix the following day.

Choose from four routes that start and finish in Lincoln - 100, 75, 57 or 30 miles - through quiet picturesque lanes in the Lincolnshire Wolds. The route options mean there is something for everyone, with the 100 mile route providing the toughest challenge, with 4,695 feet (1431 m) of ascent.  All routes finish with the 320m, 12% cobbled climb of Michaelgate in the heart of historic Lincoln, giving you the chance to experience the sort of challenge faced by Elite riders the following day. The 55 mile route takes in less of the Wolds and is ideally suited to those setting out in cycling and the world of cyclo-sportives. The 30 mile route is almost completely flat and perfectly suited to new riders, although it still includes the Michaelgate climb.

All routes except the shortest have a feedstation, with two on the 100 mile route.

The icing on the cake for your day out is the Michaelgate climb. The Santini Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive is one of the few sportives in the UK that attracts a crowd to cheer you to the finish at the bottom of historic Lincoln Cathedral. The cathedral is visible from several points on the route as far as 30 miles away and there will be signs to help you spot this landmark.

When you enter online there is an option to say a few words about yourself, which will be read out by the commentator on your arrival at the finish.

We try to make sure the Santini Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive is an experience not just for the riders but their family and friends too.  We have a text message service integrated into the chip timing system, so anyone supporting you on the day can be notified of your approximate arrival time on the finishing climb.

To enter online visit the event website here and secure your place on one of the UK’s fastest growing sportives.

New for 2014 is the Santini Lincoln Grand Prix Hill climb, with more information to be released soon.
