Event: 1 September 2013

Want to be in with the chance of winning a GB Cycling jersey signed by Chris Hoy himself?!

A Great Britain Cycling jersey signed by Sir Chris Hoy is on offer as an incentive to enter a Cyclo-Sportive being organised for September.

The Marlow “Red Kite Ride” on Sunday September 1st offers riders the choice of 100, 80 or 50 mile routes through Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire with the longest route passing through the Vale of Aylesbury over some of the highest parts of the Chilterns and into the Thames Valley.

Each entrant will be entered into a draw to win the jersey – a Sky sponsored GB top signed by many of the Olympic track team including Sir Chris Hoy, who recently announced his retirement from competitive cycling.

The Marlow Red Kite Ride, which ran for the first time last September, will start and finish at the Marlow Sports Club on the banks of the River Thames in an area which is a popular tourist attraction.

Organisers, the Marlow Riders, are keen to encourage both experienced sportive riders and relative newcomers to the sport.

The Red Kite Ride organisers promise two well sign-posted routes, three feed stations, electronic timing, ample parking at the start, showers at the finish and GPX routes to download before the event.

Last year’s inaugural event was a sellout with more than 350 entries raising £4,000 for local charities. The event has since expanded and organisers are hoping for an even larger entry.

The fee to enter online is £25 and all net proceeds will go to the following charities:

  • Skidz, who provide work training as a mechanic for children with education and learning difficulties in the High Wycombe and surrounding area
  • In-Vision who promote research into Infantile Nystagmus (IN), a permanent condition causing involuntary oscillations of the eyes that first appears within the first six months of life
  • Marlow Sports Club which is a is a community sports club, offering a home and facilities to a total of over 1,500 members, all from the Marlow area.

The event is supported by British Cycling and you can enter the event here.
