Event: 6 July 2013
Location: Riverside, Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland

The Stockton Cycling Festival is set to offer all riders that ‘pro’ feel, with a closed roads start with motorcycle outriders. With four routes on offer there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Back for a third year and now backed by Altura Technical Bikewear this popular sportive continues to grow. Established event promoters Velo29 have really worked hard over the past 12 months to grow their portfolio of events and now include a British Cycling Premier Calendar road race and a round of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Series.

The Endeavour has four routes starting from Stockton riverside on closed roads, escorted by motorbike and cars. You rollout the car park behind flashing lights and horns immediately onto an empty dual carriage way; it’s like the start of a Tour de France stage!

The four rides are:

  • 36 miles mostly flat for the occasional rider,
  • 39 miles with one serious climb and a lovely gated road section,
  • 65 miles which has a very lumpy middle section and some great scenery plus
  • the 95 mile route which has 8,000ft of climbing including the 33% Rosedale Chimney Bank, with its hairpin switchbacks.

Feedback from the Daffodils Sportive, Velo29’s new April event was great with all riders enjoying some  great route signage, well supported moto and car service and some lovely routes. The Endeavour promises to be just as good, even better.

All routes have feed zones, electronic timing, service cars and bikes, online entry, goodie bags and free post ride massage!
