Event: 7 April 2013
Location: Aldersley Leisure Village, Wolverhampton, West Midlands

Just two weeks after the scheduled date for the weather-beaten Cheshire Cat (which returns with a smile on 7 July), KILO TO GO presents Wiggle Motion in Mercia on Sunday 7 April. Last year the inaugural event attracted 800 riders and is a perfect early season challenge. For 2013, there are two slightly revised, exciting and challenging route options of 92 miles and 53 miles.

"The 92 mile route includes some sharp climbs but nothing you would call a mountain. The perfect early season challenge!"

A taste of the Motion in Mercia long route

The routes sit within South Staffordshire and Shropshire. Not especially hilly, the routes do climb up to the forest of Cannock Chase quite early on followed by the wonderful descent. The 92 mile route includes some sharp climbs but nothing you would call a mountain. The perfect early season challenge!

The imposing beacon hill of The Wrekin dominates the view for long route riders – do take glances to the right though over to the Shropshire Hills and further afield into Wales. There’s a beautiful climb out of the Roden valley followed by a descend into the great River Severn valley which we follow for some time – however, there’s a bit of a hilly divert after the second feed station up to Gleedon Hill near Much Wenlock. Then back down into the valley and we find ourselves in UNESCO World Heritage site of Ironbridge. It was here that the Industrial Age found its initial spark and put Motion in Mercia!

For those that haven’t ridden a KILO TO GO event, you can enter at www.kilotogo.com and then you will receive our ‘Ticket to Ride’ rider pack in the post before the event. This means that you can come straight to the start line – no further registration required on the day. This is one of the reasons why KILO TO GO sportives are so popular.
