Entries for a new Sportive in East Yorkshire are now open with organisers of the Heart of the Wolds Sportive promising to give cyclists of all abilities a testing physical challenge as well as a feel for the Yorkshire Wolds on April 28.

"We've got three courses which we think will cater for every level of cyclist," says organiser Adam Hardy of Wolds Racing Team.

"Our entry level Rudston Challenge is 50km across beautiful rolling countryside whilst our 100km and 130km routes will stretch the riders as they cross into the highest sections of the Wolds, they will also have to deal with some stiff ascents and technical descents on beautiful rural roads."

Adam said that he was also keen for the event to showcase the region which he says is relatively undiscovered.

"Most people are aware of the Moors and the Pennines in Yorkshire, but fewer people seem to know much about the Wolds, which is a pity as they're extremely scenic with some great routes for cyclists."

The organisers plan to produce a detailed event brochure about the route.

"We'll be sending our event brochure to all entrants in the months leading up to the event and we'll be describing every aspect of the route, from the history of the villages to the types of wildlife in the area. We really want to give people a feel for the landscape they're cycling through."

Some of these highlights include a view of the eight metre monolith at Rudston, England's largest standing stone, the location of several of David Hockney's most celebrated and largest paintings, including Bigger Trees near Warter, and the village where the country's largest ever recorded meteorite fell to earth two centuries ago.

The event will be held on April 28th starting in the market town of Driffield. Enter the event online using the British Cycling calendar or for more details see http://www.woldssportive.co.uk/
