Event: 29 April 2012
Location: Lanhydrock Estate, Bodmin

The fifth Wiggle Cornwall Tor, which takes place on Sunday 29th April, has a new HQ, start and finish location for 2012. Set in the picturesque grounds of the National Trust’s Lanhydrock estate to the south of Bodmin – and in anticipation of its increasing popularity - the event can accommodate more entrants in the spacious parkland. ‘The Tor’ also boasts its own premium camping facilities this year which are set in the grounds of the nearby Dragon Leisure centre – the event HQ in previous years.

Already the biggest sportive challenge in Cornwall, Wiggle Cornwall Tor looks set to break its own record number of entrants with over 1,000 people signed-up already. ‘The Tor’ is widely recognised not only for using some of the most breathtakingly scenic lanes on the UK sportive scene, but also for being one of the toughest events too. This combination often results in emotional scenes over the finish line for elated finishers.

Each of the 3 route options take riders to the spectacularly scenic Cornish Atlantic coastline. The coast is met at Port Isaac where ITV drama Doc Martin is set and filmed. Then it’s mystical and magical Tintagel, home to King Arthur and his knights. Further along, riders visit Boscastle, Crackington Haven and Widemouth Bay via some tough but spectacularly scenic coastal climbs such as Millook. Lunaresque Bodmin Moor and the quaint south coastal fishing port of Looe come into the equation for longer option riders too.

Simon Thomson from event organisers KILO TO GO added; “Local cyclists already know how beautiful – and tough - this part of Cornwall is; but they also know what a quiet and enjoyable backdrop Cornwall makes to ‘The Tor’. We’re letting the secret free with this event as increasingly more cyclist from ‘up-country’ are coming down and realising what a great place Cornwall (and ‘The Tor’) is. With our premium camping facilities, some people are even making a long weekend break of it”.
