Video Preview: Tour of the Peak
Event: 30th October 2010
On Saturday 30th October The 2010 Verenti Tour of the Peak draws the summertime sportive season to a close being the last big challenge ride in British Summertime - the clocks going back the following night. With slightly revised routes of 97 and 65 miles Tour of the Peak features three of the most revered Peak District climbs - Firstly there's the long gentle 7 mile climb up to the Cat and Fiddle made famous by the likes of the Milk Race and various professional races over the years. Then riders tackle the steep but beautiful gorge of Winnats Pass.
Those who opt for the 97 mile route then trip north up to Last of the Summer Wine country through Holmfirth and it's very own Holme Moss not long after. It's not all hilly and there is some stunning Autumn Peaks scenery to enjoy with villages of stone, open mountain and moorland, lakes and forests. Apparently 2010 is shaping up for a very colourful display of autumn leaves.
Last year the event filled with 1,000 riders and this year the event looks to be filling even quicker. Event HQ is in Chapel en le Frith in the High Peak and the action kicks of at 8am. You must enter in advance but after that there's no queuing on the day - it's just turn up go. Full event details and online entry at www.kilotogo.com
