EnterBlue Giraffe Bicycles North York Moor Spring Classic
Event: Sunday 6 April 2014

The Blue Giraffe Bicycles North York Moor Spring Classic features a new route for 2014. Utilising much of a route used for many years on the Four Dales Road Race.

The route is a 56 mile challenge with 1139 metres of climbing and a longest climb of 253 metres over almost eight miles.

The majority of the climbs are shorter but much steeper. The route leads away from Kirkby to Carlton and a climb of the savage Carlton Bank, leading to Chop Gate and taking in Bilsdale to climb Newgate Bank. Helmsley is next followed by a fast section to Kirby Moorside and the lengthy climb to the top of the moors at Blakey Ridge. Castleton is visited with another lung busting climb out of the village. Once back onto the top of the moors the route heads towards Commondale and Kildale before returning to Kirkby.

The second option is shorter and a more gently undulating 30 mile route taking in villages west of the North York Moors.Starting in Kirkby, going via Carlton, Hutton Rudby, Rounton, Crathorne, Hutton Rudby,Seamer, Stokesley and Kirkby.

Both routes will be fully signed with our ‘bgb’ arrows. The start area has toilet and changing facilities. Our mechanic will also be on hand to help with any last minute problems. A selection of tyres and inner tubes along with other products will also be available to purchase.

After signing on you will be given a number to be displayed on the front of your bike and a complementary gel. Both the routes have feed stations where you will be able to top up water bottles and grab some food to keep you going. We also will provide on route mechanic support and a broom waggon. We pride ourselves on the friendly atmosphere so after signing in at the end of your ride please stay a while and enjoy refreshments and a chat.
