It is with regret that we inform you of the cancellation of the 2016 Scottish National 25 Mile Time Trial Championship scheduled for Saturday 4th June.
With one week to go to the Championship, the Ayrshire Roads Alliance, on behalf of East Ayrshire Council, announced “essential maintenance works” to be carried out on the A71 between the hours of 0600 and 1500 on both Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June 2016.
On notification of these works, the Event Organiser contacted the council to find a solution to this problem, despite suggesting various alternative options we were unable to ensure the delivery of a safe, fair and competitive Championship event.
This has unfortunately left the Event Organiser and Scottish Cycling with no option but to cancel the event at very late notice.
Scottish Cycling would like to take this opportunity to thank riders for their support of the Championship and we apologise for the late notification of this cancellation.
We would also like to extend our thanks to the Event Organiser, Michael McClelland, and the organising club, Ayr Roads, for their time and commitment to organising this Championship and we share their disappointment at this unfortunate situation. Michael was meticulous in his planning and we know the Championship would have been delivered to a very high standard.
Scottish Cycling share your extreme disappointment in the cancellation of the 2016 Scottish National 25 Mile Time Trial Championship but unfortunately, the situation was out with our control despite the best efforts of both the Organiser and Scottish Cycling.
All riders have been informed via email and will be issued with a full refund on their entry.
The Scottish Cycling Events Team are already looking at alternative dates and events and hope that an alternative can be found for the 2016 Championship. Progress on this will be communicated as early as possible.
Once again, we thank you for your support of this event and if you have any queries, please contact email@example.com.
