The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, which will host the track cycling competition at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, has been billed as one of the fastest tracks in the world.

The 250 metre track, built by Glasgow City Council and designed by leading velodrome expert Ralph Schürmann, opens to the public on October 6.

To mark the occasion, the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee has released timelapse footage showing the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome springing to life.
