Following up his win in Granite City’s event over the same distance two weeks earlier, Steve Cairns (Perth United CC) underlined his good form with victory in the Fife CA Open ‘50’ at Freuchie.

With favourite Carlos Riise a non-starter, the Dunning-based 39-year-old made the most of the sunny and relatively calm conditions to clock 1:53:06 for a winning margin of 1:44 over Rab Carson (Leslie Bike Shop) who was competing over the distance for the first time.

Third-placed Alan Mill (Sandy Wallace Cycles), 1:55:02, was also completing his first ‘50’.
