After placing second in both the first two rounds, Dooleys Cycles rider Martin Lonie finally secured a win in the Aberdeen District Evening Road Race League, taking victory in round three at Echt in Aberdeenshire.
The 33-year-old from East Kilbride won a big bunch sprint finish to the 38-mile race, holding off 20-year-old Jack Barrett (Velocity 44 Stirling) from Kingussie, while third spot went to veteran Peter Ettles, the 49-year-old all-rounder from Elgin who rides for Sandy Wallace Cycles.
The winner of the opening round staged early last month, Michael Henderson (Moray Firth CC) placed fourth and was just edged off the podium in a fast finish.
