ERC Juniors secure 5 year sponsorship agreement

Edinburgh Road Club Juniors cycling club have finalised a 5 year sponsorship agreement with top Edinburgh investment management company Martin Currie.
The agreement includes capital investment in bikes and equipment, and also for ongoing running and development costs for a further 4 years.
ERC Juniors have been very successful in getting more kids on to their bikes and teaching the basic skills required for cycle racing. The new sponsorship will allow the club to take the next steps towards cycling excellence by allowing their members get involved in competitive bike racing and to help promising youngsters fulfill their full potential.
Playing a significant part in the club's plans is the formation of the ERC/Martin Currie Youth Racing Team. The team will consist of riders aged 11 through to 16 who have ambitions to race at Scottish and UK level. These riders will be given the practical and coaching support to develop their talent to their full potential.
ERC President, Ken Whitson, said ‘Our aim is to provide a development path for our young riders. We want to get them started by providing the bikes and equipment to allow them to develop a passion for racing at regional and national level. As they move up the age groups we will provide the coaching and support they need to compete with the best in the UK.'
The club's plans will also be supported by sportsmatch funding. This government scheme matches commercial sponsorship funds and means the club will be able to support rider development in track as well as road and cross country disciplines.
