It has come to that time of year when the Events Team start to plan ahead and look towards putting together the but before all of this it's a great opportunity to look back at 2010. It has certainly been a great year of racing and this is a true testament to all the fantastic clubs and event organisers that we have in Scotland.

Scottish Cycling is constantly looking to work together with the riders, event organisers and volunteers to provide a high quality events calendar. A Road and Time Trial working group has already been set up and we are looking to have a similar set up across all disciplines. Should you have any queries or feedback regarding events please don't hesitate to contact events@scottishcycling.org.uk.

MTB Cross Country
SXC have once again put on a great race calendar with 7 terrific courses taking the riders to venues all over Scotland from Drumlanrig Castle to Contin. It has been very encouraging to see such high numbers at these races - people just getting out there on their bikes and giving it a go and most importantly enjoying their day and we would like to thank the whole of SXC for all their hard work over the year.

MTB Downhill
SDA have put on a fantastic race series visiting all the great venues in Scotland and holding the Scottish Champs in Dunkeld.

Road
The SUP6R Six series sponsored by Scottish Power Renewables has once again produced some quality racing experience for riders and we are hoping that this series will continue to improve and raise the standards of road racing in Scotland.  This is the second year of the Women & Vet Series and it’s great to see a gradual increase in numbers of women racing.  The three Women’s specific development sessions were well attended and we hope to improve on this for next year across a number of disciplines.

Track
Meadowbank and Caird Park have been home to great track racing in Scotland for youths and juniors as well. It is great to see so many youngsters getting involved and really enjoying it. The Scottish Track Champs will be held at the end of August and it is set to be a fantastic 3 days of racing.

Time Trials
With over 160 TT events on the 2010 Scottish Events Calendar, it’s very encouraging to see so many clubs putting on time trials.  The 10mile, 25mile and 50mile Scottish TT Champs all saw some excellent standard of riding and results.  The Scottish 100mile TT, the Scottish Youth TT Champs and the Scottish TTT Champs are all taking part in August which should proves to be an exciting month of racing.

Cyclocross
It is great to see cyclocross becoming so popular. Having experienced record numbers at the 2009 Series, SXC are looking forward to another exciting year ahead. SCX have just published their calendar for this year with the first race taking place on October 3rd at Meadowmill.

BMX
BMX continues to be apart of the SC calendar having held 5 events so far this year and more to come. The Cumbernauld BMX club events had to be postponed due to start gate issues but the club and track are well underway to hosting events in the near future so watch this space.

Cycle Speedway
Scotland's only Cycle Speedway club, the Edinburgh Falcons, have had a busy season so far, holding league, youth and national fixtures most Sundays at Redbraes.  The Edinburgh Falcons actively encourage newcomers to this historic, fast and furious discipline of cycle sport.
