After months of anticipation, Scotland’s best young riders will embark on the chance of a lifetime, racing at World Championship venues during the elite event.

Having partnered with the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships as Official Legacy and Activation Partner, Scottish Cycling have worked with the organisers to run a number of youth races as part of the World Championships in Glasgow and across Scotland.

After a series of regional qualifiers all over Scotland, the top U12, U14 and U16 riders, male and female, booked their spots at the finals where they’ll compete for a special Ride The Worlds jersey. Check out this cool behind the scenes video Santini shared with us of it being made!

The Race The Worlds finals will be contested in four disciplines:

Mini Downhill

The first of four finals, Mini-Downhill will take place at the sport’s spiritual home in Scotland, the Nevis Range, long time home of the Fort William World Cup. Taking place on the morning of Friday 4th August, the Race the Worlds route will run adjacent to the World Championship course, with a finish line right in the heart of the event village! What’s more, podium finishers will climb onto the World Champs podium to receive their silverware before any of the elite’s have set foot on it!

Racing starts at 10.20 @ Nevis Range

Dirt Crit

Next up is the Dirt Crit final, taking place at iconic XC Racing venue, Glentress, on the morning of Sunday 6th August. On a purpose-built course in Glentress Forest, the youth action will take place during the Marathon event, with podium finishers once again getting to stand on the elite World Championship podium. This is a non-ticketed event, so bring the biggest cheer squad you can!

There is sure to be a brilliant atmosphere, and once again this is a non-ticketed event, so everyone is welcome.
