A lot has changed in the last three years – both in the wider world and in cycling – so we have decided to refresh our organisational strategy to reflect this, and we want your input to help shape our future.
From supporting clubs and individuals through the pandemic, to a record medal haul at this summer’s Commonwealth Games, we haven’t been resting on our laurels, instead trying to take the sport of cycling in Scotland forward.
The 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships was one of these things and this clearly offers up a huge opportunity that we must capitalise on, ensuring we grow the sport both during and after the event – we are already extremely busy, working in collaboration with the organisers to maximise the positive impact it has on the Scottish Cycling community.
We have recently consulted on our new Domestic Events Strategy, which has taken a long, hard look at the way events are run in Scotland, and working with the community we have a refreshed vision of how to make them better, and this is exactly what we want to do with our organisational strategy.
Below is draft version of our new strategy. You will recognise some key parts and themes from the original Developing a Nation of Cyclists strategy, however we have reflected the aforementioned changes in the world, and tried to make it easier to understand what we are trying to achieve and how we’re proposing to do it.
As a valued member of our community, we’d would love your feedback. Hopefully you think we’re on the right lines – however whatever you think, good or bad, we want to hear your views.
There are three ways for you to share your thoughts, the first of which is the Developing a Nation of Cyclists 2.0 consultation session that will be held at the Scottish Cycling Conference at Hampden Park on Saturday 26th November. If you haven’t already, you can still sign up for free on the link below:
For those who can’t make the conference, or would prefer to submit their feedback virtually, we are welcoming written feedback both in advance and after our conference; you can share yours using the form below.
Please note, we will be closing the feedback form at midnight on Sunday 11th December.
Finally, if you, your club, association, or organisation would like to discuss this further with us, we would be happy to set up a call via your usual Scottish Cycling point of contact. If you don’t know who speak to please email info@scottishcycling.org.uk
