Team Scotland heroes Neah Evans and Jack Carlin will lead the five Scots who will compete for Great Britain at the UCI World Track Championships in Versailles that start on Wednesday.
Fresh from becoming the first Scottish female cyclist to win three medals at single Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Neah Evans is named in a strong female endurance squad that also sees Katie Archibald return after what has so far been a difficult 2022.
In the sprint events double Olympic medallist Jack Carlin is joined by his Birmingham 2022 teammates Ali Fielding and Lauren Bell – all three will be looking to build on the progress they made this summer.
In total, Scots make up 25% of the squad for next week’s championships, which take place between Wednesday 12 - Sunday 16 October 2022, with all five of them hoping to return home with some silverware around their necks.
Neah Evans told BBC Sport:
"It's almost an a bit of an art form and when you get it right and it's going well and you're going fast - its almost this weird zen state, and you're flowing, and it's great. It's really fun.
"It's hard - your legs are screaming at you, but your head's relaxed, because you're just following this wheel. It doesn't happen very often and it's just calm. You can't really hear much from the crowd.
The Aberdonian has had an excellent 2022 claiming three medals at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, including two medals on the boards of LeeValley Velodrome. The Scot is hoping for another electric atmosphere this time round.
"You're aware there's a lot of noise, but you're so focused - you know what the person in front is doing, you know what you're doing, you know what the person behind is doing and it's just quite relaxed, which sounds bizarre because you're literally maximal effort, trying as hard as you physically can, but you're just chilled.
"It's brilliant, but sadly it doesn't happen as much as you'd like.
