Track League
Keeping with the Track theme, Glasgow Track League was back for 2022-23, moving into a new Friday night slot.
An excellent evening of exciting racing and it was great to see a field of over 80 riders take to the boards. Daniel Kain and Hugo Atkinson (Ribble rechrg) both looked very strong in the A Group – claiming every race between the two of them.
The evening also saw the presentation of the 2021-22 season awards seen here showing off the silverware.
Ahron Dick (Edinburgh RC) - Best Youth Male, Andy Brown (Velocity 44) - Overall Winner, Lucy Glover (Derwentside CC) - Best Female, Isla McCutcheon (Johnstone Jets) - Best Youth Female.
Round 2 takes place next Friday 14th October and entries for this are available online.
British CX Trophy Derby
Melanie Rowe (Deeside Thistle) and Gus Lawson (Pentland Racers) both won out in the Under 14s British CX Trophy race in Derby.
In the Elites, Rory McGuire (Wheelbase) came home in fifth place, while Anna Flynn (Spectra Wiggle p/b Vitus) finished sixth in the Women’s. Both riders claiming third place in the U23 category. Ishbel Strathdee came home in tenth.
The Juniors saw a great ride by Rueben Oakley (Rotor RT) in fourth place in the Junior Men’s and Emily Carrick-Anderson (T-Mo Racing) in seventh place.
Round 2 is at Callander Park in Falkirk and will take place on 22nd and 23rd October.
Scots Abroad
Anna Shackley (Team SD Worx) finished off her road season with another great performance at the Women’s WorldTour Tour de Romandie. Consistent riding saw the Milngavie rider finish tenth on the overall general classification and claim fourth in the young rider classification. This finishes off a season that has seen Shackley make her Commonwealth Games debut and become the first Scot to ever finish in the Top 10 at a Women’s WorldTour race, with Romandie joining her efforts at La Vuelta in September.
In his final race in the Under-23 category, Sean Flynn (Tudor) finished fourth at the U23 Paris-Tours, with fellow Scots Oscar Onley (DSM Development) and Morgan Bown (EC Saint Etienne) also racing.
