Scottish Cycling Club Confined TT Policy expanded to allow 2nd Claim Members to participate

Thanks to the valuable feedback from Scottish Cycling Clubs and their Members, we have had very constructive discussions with British Cycling which has allowed us to enhance the Club Confined TT offering in Scotland

We know that Club Confined Time Trials offer a fantastic opportunity for clubs to introduce their members to this format of competition, and that over the last few years in particular when some activities have been limited, these have been able to continue when restrictions allowed.

The two principle updates to the policy are as follows:

  • Second claim members are now permitted to ride Club Confined TTs
  • The maximum number of participants per event has been increased to 80

We feel that this will further increase the accessibility and engagement with Club Confined TTs for all those who wish to participate.

British Cycling have agreed to trial these changes for 12 months on the basis that the guidance on risk assessing and running Club Confined Time Trials is implemented. This allows clubs to mitigate risk and also demonstrate to the British Cycling insurers, in the event that a claim is made, that we have in place published and accessible guidance available to clubs.

Please find the updated Club Confined Time Trial policy here, which includes links to the risk assessment guidance and risk assessment template. The process for registering events can also be found here, with details on the associated costs if applicable. If you have any questions on this, or anything in relation to the new changes, please do not hesitate to contact events@scottishcycling.org.uk and the team will be happy to help.
