Today, Scottish Cycling, Cycling Time Trials (Scotland) and Cycling UK sent a letter to Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing Joe Fitzpatrick MSP to request exemptions for travel between local authorities to take part in organised cycling and club activity at COVID-19 Protection Levels 3 and 4 within the Coronavirus (Scotland) (No 2) Act 2020.

Scottish Cycling recognises the current public health emergency, the importance of the introduction of the COVID-19 protection levels and their impact on mitigating the transmission of the virus across Scotland. We also acknowledge unequivocal physical, mental, social, societal and economic benefit of cycling and would therefore welcome any assistance that the Scottish Government could provide to ensure a consistency of approach for cycling and the 1.8 million cyclists in Scotland.
