This Volunteers Week, we will be celebrating the cycling community who are continuing to do incredible things. Today, we are focusing on what clubs have been up to during Covid-19.

Berwick Wheelers are providing support to a local community group during the Covid-19 crisis. The Three Fields Action group in Berwick upon Tweed contacts volunteer coordinator from Berwick Wheelers Cycling Club, Garry Greenaway, each day, with instructions to collect and deliver medical prescriptions to those who are shielding or unable to collect themselves.

The club has formed a rota and where possible allocated volunteers collect and deliver the prescriptions on bicycle.

The initiative has been in place for several weeks now and will continue until demand on services reduces.

Garry said: "I’ve been a resident of Berwick all of my life and I know people really pull together in times of need. The Covid-19 crisis really has been unprecedented and impacted so many people, it seemed only right that we muster up our fit cyclists to combine their outdoor exercise with delivering prescriptions. It’s been really great to work with Anne at the Action Group. We hope this is also an opportunity to further cement our relationship with the community of Berwick and surrounding areas. We are all in this together".
