It was another good day for the Scots on the bike at the HSBC UK National TT Championships at the Royal Sandringham Estate.

The Elite Women’s event saw no less than four Scots in the top 15. Vicky Smith from AeroCoach continued her incredible TT season by finishing 8th as the Top Scot. Sophie Lankford (Jadan Weldtite-Vive le Velo) just missed out on a top 10 finish, coming in 11th 2:03.48 behind winner Alice Barnes, beating Commonwealth Games athletes Katie Archibald (13th) and Neah Evans (12th) however.

Neah earned an incredibly gutsy 12th place following a tumble on the course. She made it home a bit bruised, having only given away a couple minutes to the fastest time.

John Archibald had a great day in the saddle for Ribble Pro Cycling, finishing 2nd overall. He held the lead right to the end and only the final rider of the day, Team Katusha – Alpecin rider Alex Dowsett was able to overhaul his time. Even then, the now six time champion, was only able to take 6.85 seconds out of the impressive time that John set.

Kyle Gordon, who has had an impressive season so far, winning a few Scottish National TT titles already this season, finished slightly off the pace in 19th. This was the same place, coincidentally, that Joe Nally managed in the U23 race which was won convincingly by Charlie Quarterman from Zappi Racing Team.

The championships continue on Sunday, when the men’s and women’s road races take place, starting and finishing in Norwich city centre.
