The Scottish National Alba Series 2018 #3: Hugh Dornan Memorial Race to Rosneath

Sunday 20th May

Lomond Roads CC

The third instalment of the Scottish National Alba Series 2018 takes place this Sunday 20th May. The Hugh Dornan Memorial Race to Rosneath rolls out from the Garelochhead Community Centre and takes in four laps of a circuit around the Rosneath Peninsula.

The 120km race is once again being put on by Lomond Roads Cycling Club and with all three of last year’s podium finishers on the start-sheet, it looks like it will be a fiercely contested event.

Last year’s race was fractured from the start with a group of ten breaking away on the first lap. Those ten then managed to stay away until the end. John Archibald broke from that group in the final lap, finishing with around three minutes on his nearest rival, Scott McCrossan who narrowly beat Stephen Dent to second place.

John’s win last year was his second successive victory at the Hugh Dornan Memorial Race to Rosneath and this weekend he will be looking to make it a hat-trick. With a strong field looking to ensure that doesn’t happen, he’ll have his work cut out for him.

The next instalment of the Scottish National Alba Series is the Tour of the Glens brought to you by Dundee Thistle on the 22nd July.  Enter online here.
