It is with regret that Scottish Cycling and the organising club, Deeside Thistle, inform you that the National 100 Mile Time Trial Championship event will meet the same fate as the National 50 Mile Championship and also be postponed, due to the same extended roadworks on the A90.
The planned roadworks at North Water Bridge on the A90 were originally due for completion on 4th July, however this completion date was extended a number of times to the 25th August. Communication between the Scottish Cycling Events Team and the roads contractors confirmed that these roadworks would now not be completed by the 100 Championship date of 27th August.
Despite this extremely disappointing situation, Scottish Cycling’s priority remains to deliver a National 100 Mile Time Trial Championship in 2017. The Championship will now be rearranged to Sunday 1st October on the original course, organised and delivered by Deeside Thistle.
Of course, Scottish Cycling and the organising clubs recognise the great importance of this event on the calendar, not just as a Championship but also as an event that will complete the National Best All Rounder Championship. With this in mind, the Scottish Cycling Board has made the decision to extend the deadline (technical regulation 18.2.8) for BAR competition until the 100 Championship can take place.
All riders currently entered in the Championship will be contacted directly by the organiser with information on the rearranged date and how entries and refunds will be processed. The event will also re-open for entries, so any rider not already entered will have the opportunity to do so by the new closing date of Sunday 17th September.
Scottish Cycling would like to take this opportunity to thank riders for their support and understanding and we apologise for the inconvenience caused by this set of roadworks.
Scottish Cycling would also like to show appreciation to Kenny Anderson and Deeside Thistle for their efforts in organising this event and continuing their commitment to deliver the Championship; the Events Team are delighted to work with Kenny on this Championship event.
Scottish Cycling share your extreme disappointment regarding the second postponement of the 2017 Scottish National 100 Mile Time Trial Championship but unfortunately, the situation was out with our control.
Once again, we thank you for your support of this event and if you have any queries, please contact the Kenny on the contact details available on the event page or a member of the Scottish Cycling Events Team on firstname.lastname@example.org.
