East Kilbride Road Club is hosting the third round of the Scottish National Youth Road Race Series at Kames Motorsport Circuit in Muirkirk on Sunday (23rd April.)

The event is also part of the Scottish Cycling (West) Youth Development Series so there is lots to aim for.

Event Organiser Gregor Yeoman said:

‘With over 20 clubs being represented it is bound to be very competitive and I am hoping for some exciting and fast racing’.

In the Youth E age group the completion is always hot with some real talent coming through.

The Youth D girls will be very competitive with host club’s Erin Boothman hoping to continue her winning ways, the boys race will be equally competitive with Stirling Bike Club’s Struan Shaw up against a strong group from Clydesdale Colts and East Kilbride.

In the C girls Anna Reid and Isla McCutcheon will renew their previous battles and in one of the biggest fields of the day local rider Cormac McConville will be battling against a strong Johnstone Jets contingent.

The Youth B girls always provides great racing with a host of top National standard riders fresh from some great results at the Youth Tour of Scotland, Eva Young should be back to full fitness following her crash at Crit on the Campus and will be taking on Imani Pereira James and Morven Yeoman from EKRC and Eilidh Shaw from Stirling.

The Boys B race will also be hugely competitive with Callum Reid up against the Ythan duo of Daniel Kain and Fraser Gault, The Edinburgh and EKRC boys will be hot on their heels.

Moving to the A’s and again riders coming from the Youth Tour will be keen to show their metal with Estelle Fuller taking on the Georgia Young and the girls from Fullarton Wheelers. The Boys A race will be a cracker with any number of riders from Matti Dobbins, Oran McConville, Scott Howieson and Kyle McInnes up for the win.

‘It looks like it’s going to be a great event and I am hoping the weather gods are kind to us’ said Gregor.
