The Youth Commonwealth Games is a fantastic opportunity for young riders to gain the experience that a multi-sport event provides.

There are different challenges within a Games environment compared with competing in a standalone race and for many athletes the first time they find themselves in this situation is at a full senior games.

So the learning and development opportunity this provides at a young age is significant - and we are delighted that road cycling is included.

Scottish Cycling has been invited to nominate a team of up to four riders for the Youth Commonwealth Games 2017 (Bahamas) which will take place between 19th-23rd July and after working closely with Commonwealth Games Scotland, have now confirmed the selection policy for the cycling competition programme.

Other sports selection policies for the Youth Commonwealth Games 2017 can be found on the Commonwealth Games Scotland website here.
