Peter Clark, 26th June 1956 - 2nd July 2016

It is with great sadness that we give the news that our great friend and colleague Peter Clark sadly passed away at the weekend after suffering a heart attack. Peter was the Scottish Cycling Regional Development Officer for the North East region and his sudden death has touched all of our hearts.

Peter was a truly great individual who inspired so many people and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. He contributed so much to Cycling, far beyond what his position required, always carrying out his duties with endless enthusiasm, drive and a wicked sense of humour! In addition to being Regional Development Officer he was a Commissaire, Event Organiser, Coach, Mentor and Team Manager among others. His incredible knowledge and experience of Cycling was always shared willingly; providing help and support to anyone that asked. His passion for the sport he loved so much was truly infectious.

Our thoughts go out to Peter's family and friends at this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements below:

Funeral service to be held at 1:15pm at the West Chapel of Aberdeen Crematorium on Wednesday 13 July 2016. Cyclists in club strips & lycra welcomed/encouraged.

Funeral Tea is being held from 2:15pm at the Hilton Treetops Aberdeen, 161 Springfield Road, Aberdeen AB15 7AQ. People are encouraged to attend and share their memories of Peter.

There is also an opportunity for cyclists to pay their respects to Peter by joining in the procession on his final ascent, from Hazlehead Academy to the Crematorium. Please meet at Hazlehead Academy/Swimming Pool on Groats Road at 12:30pm. The procession will commence at the traffic light controlled junction of Groats Road and the continuation of Queens Road at 12.45pm as the car convoy passes, maintaining a speed of 10-12mph.

If you plan to ride in the procession then please contact Tim Mackley on email (timmackley@outlook.com) by Monday 11th to receive details and so that numbers can be confirmed for the day. A short rider briefing will occur before the procession but if you have any questions regarding the arrangements then please also contact Tim.
