Stirling Bike Club, in collaboration with the University of Stirling, Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, are proud to announce the return of the Crit on the Campus cycle race.

The third edition of the event takes place on Sunday 3rd April.

Building on the success of last year’s race, Crit on the Campus 2016 will be bigger than ever before. A total of 350 riders will compete on the 1 mile circuit around the University of Stirling’s picturesque countryside campus.

A veritable closed circuit extravaganza, the University Campus grounds will be closed and transformed into an exciting and unique cycling race course for riders of all abilities. Take in the glorious setting as riders race for up to an hour on a circuit that loops around the main University building, and which includes a few speed bumps and twisting turns.

Racing begins at 8.30 am with a series of youth races, showcasing the future stars of the Scottish road racing scene, and is closely followed by two beginner races at 11.10 am and 11.55 am. The women’s race follows at 12.50 pm, and the day ends with the elite men’s race at 2.00 pm. With a prize fund of over £1300, the races promise to be fast and frantic with some of the best riders from the UK battling it out, including several Team Scotland Commonwealth Games stars. Stirling Bike Club are strongly committed to promoting women’s cycling at all levels, and, like all our other events, there is equal prize money for men and women. In addition, there is a combativity prize for the women’s race, with the recipient receiving the Olwyn Dobson Trophy and a cash prize.

All spectators are welcome to support the riders and experience the friendly and exciting atmosphere! Spectators can view the races from anywhere on the course whilst walking around the University campus, or enjoy the action in the events village at the heart of the circuit.

Whether one of the 300+ competitors, or just soaking up the atmosphere as a spectator, Crit on the Campus should be an enjoyable day out for all on Scotland’s most beautiful campus.
