This weekend Edinburgh’s Meadowbank Velodrome will play host to the first standalone Scottish Cycling National Youth Track Championships. With riders from all over Scotland flocking to the capital for the chance to take home the coveted Scottish championship titles.

Throughout the 2 days of competition, Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st August, there will be over 20 championship titles on offer at the open air track that started many of our former and current stars track cycling careers.

Lynne Munro, Scottish Cycling’s Head of Development said: “It is fantastic to see the number of youth riders taking part in our sport steadily increase, and I am delighted that we are now in a position to have a standalone Youth Track Championships. I have no doubt that the successful summer of cycling that we have experienced has inspired our current rides and will have also inspired the next generation of cyclists to get involved.”

On Saturday our Male and Female Youth A and B riders will compete for 500m Time Trial, 1500m Pursuit, Sprint and Omnium titles. While on Sunday our Male and Female Youth C rides will compete for the chance to win 1500m Pursuit, Sprints, 500m Time Trial and Omnium titles. The Youth A’s will also be in action and battle it out to win the 2km Pursuit and Points Race titles.

As well as Youth Track Championship events, Sunday will see our Veteran athletes take to the track for the Veteran Pursuit Championships.

Scottish Cycling would like to thank all the volunteers, officials, riders and parents that make the Championships possible.
