Yesterday was the first day of the National Junior and Youth Track Championships in Manchester.

There were a number of Scottish riders racing on day one:

In the Junior Male Pursuit over 3000m, Stuart Balfour (Spokes RT) placed 8th overall with a time of 3:35.343. Andy Brown (Glasgow CT) finished in 16th with 3:39.297.

In the Junior Women’s 500m Time Trial, Rebecca Dornan (The Rigmar Racers) placed 7th with a time of 38.566, and Flora Gillies (Speg – Project 51) finished in 15th with a time of 39.871.

In the Male U16 Sprint, Lewis Stewart (Glasgow Riderz) placed 9th in the flying 200m, but then unfortunately lost out his heat and did not make it out of the repecharge.

In the Female U16 Sprint, Amber King (Discovery Junior CC) and Sarah Bradford (Johnstone Wheelers CC) placed 6th and 7th in the flying 200m, but then were placed against each other in round one.  King came out on top, but Bradford then won her repecharge and advanced to the quarter finals. Unfortunately they both lost their match ups, and then in the 5th – 8th Minor Final King placed 7th and Bradford 8th.
