The CMI U23 development team is pleased to announce that it will run under the title sponsorship of Performance cycles in 2012. The Cotswolds based specialists have a long history of supporting the sport and this new partnership is a great opportunity for both parties to continue to make their mark within UK cycling.

U23 Team Manager David Walters commented “Performance Cycles have a deep knowledge, understanding and love of the sport that is obvious when you talk to them. We have a great relationship that goes back a few years and we are delighted to represent them in the highest level of the sport in Britain. We’ll work very well together.”

Performance Cycles’ Andy Kirk added “It’s great to be working with David and his U23 team, we have always enjoyed supporting up and coming riders, and this is the perfect way to take our support to the next level. By linking it in with our main club (PerformanceCycles.cc) we are able to offer young riders a progression from their very first club ride with us, right through to the very top level of the sport.”

The team will race on Kuota Kebel bikes, equipped with SRAM Red groupset and Reynolds Assault race wheels. Along with its sponsorship, Performance Cycles will also ensure all of the team are correctly set-up on their new bikes using the state-of-the-art Retul 3-D motion capture bike fitting technology, at their fitting studio in the Cotswolds. This package leaves nothing to chance and will provide the young riders the highest level of equipment with which to compete across Britain and abroad.

The partnership with the CMI Senior squad will enable the young riders to tackle UCI events during the season, the first of these are the 3 ‘Challenge des Phosphatiers’ UCI 1.2 races in Morocco during early April. Other opportunities will include the Tour of Serbia UCI 2.2, where the team would love to repeat the stage win of 2011. These races, along with high-level UK competition, will offer a fantastic chance for the U23 riders to gain valuable experience in this part of their careers.

Further support comes again from Ergvideo.com, whose virtual reality training DVD packages, bring road riding footage to the aid of those long turbo sessions. The team has filmed packages in the Pyrenees in the past and look forward to further such projects in the future.

Nutritional support comes from Bikefood, where the distinctive yellow bottles will be seen at the races; Kask supplies technically advanced helmets, and Continental, with whom the team has a long relationship, once again supplies tyres. Kit is supplied again by Velo+ through Halo Sports.

All in all, the equipment list is amongst the best in the UK race scene and the team is extremely grateful for all the support that it gets. The riders will represent the brands to the best of their ability, both on and off the bike, as they all look to continue to learn their trade and put in some great team performances.
