Event: 25 September 2011
Location: County Hall, Norwich

This new series is slowly carving out a niche for itself in the Eastern Region. The omnium format has proved popular with the youth categories and Go-Race riders - a record 28 under 16s turning up for the latest round - and the Regional B criterium has a small but loyal following amongst those looking for end of season points.

Round 4 was hosted by Gt Yarmouth CC who had riders competing in both the youth and Go-Race events with Seth Howlgate and George Smedley taking second and third places in the U16 omnium behind winner Alex Lubbock of VC Norwich.

The Go-Race omnium saw a tie for first place between Cameron Toms of Iceni Velo and Neil Hendry (unattached), third place was taken by Steve Dickinson (Norwich ABC). Five races, scratch, keirin, time trial, devil and handicap, gave plenty of opportunity for novice riders to get a feel for racing in a group and for developing their skills and fitness.

Eventual winner of the Regional B criterium, Will Bamber (Cult Racing), didn't have the best of starts needing a lap out after the first lap. However, he soon rejoined the leading group before going it alone two thirds of the way through the race to take a comfortable win. For the remaining podium places there was all to play for. Matt Toone (Stowmarket CC), having won at round 2 knew that position into the final bend was crucial but this time he touched his pedal and took a nasty fall gifting second place to Philip Thomerson (VC Norwich). Matt Carter (Maldon and District CC) rounded out the top three.

There are two rounds remaining, 9 October and 23 October - for more details contact saraflatt@britishcycling.co.uk.
