Preview: Isle of Man Youth Tour

More than 250 competitors line up for this weekend's Isle of Man Youth Tour. The Sleepwell Hotel's sponsored event commences with a prologue time trial on Douglas promenade on Friday evening. The event continues on Saturday morning with a tough stage on the west side of the Island for the junior competitors followed by youth categories competing on the testing Ellerslie circuit in the afternoon.

The tour concludes on Sunday, the juniors will race around the Bride course near Ramsey and the Youth riders will wrap up proceeding at the National Sports Centre raceway on Sunday afternoon.

The Youth Tour is once again a counting round of the British National Series, junior series leader Alex Peters (Cycling Club Hackney) is down to ride as is round one winner Jonathan Dibben (Hargroves Cycles), another to watch is Dibben's team mate, Alistair Slater. Other notable riders include Rupert Denny (Team Nemesis GB) and Luke Grivell - Mellor of the Mid Shropshire Wheelers. The strong Dutch Sinnigebouw team make a welcome return to the Island as do the Irish squad plus various regional teams.

Locally, the Team Isle of Man - Microgaming development squad field a strong team, Jonathan Cregeen and Thomas Mazzone will be out to impress. Royal London 360 rider Jake Kelly will be looking to perform on home soil in the Youth A event.
