Russell Downing Speaks Of His Year

Posted October 12 2010

Sky Pro Cycling have just released an in-depth interview with team rider Russell Downing, detailing his first year on the Protour circuit.

DOWNING'S YEAR TO REMEMBER
Russell Downing is delighted with the way his first season at Team Sky has panned out and feels he has more than held his own at the very top level of the sport.

The 32-year-old was snapped up after two hugely successful seasons riding in the Pro Continental ranks with CandiTV Marshalls Pasta (formerly Pinarello RT), which saw him scoop consecutive Premier Calendar titles as well beating the likes of Lance Armstrong and Mark Cavendish at the 2009 Tour of Ireland.

After stepping up to the ProTour for 2010, Downing helped Team Sky to stage wins in his first two races at the Tour Down Under and Tour of Qatar, and then went on to seal personal victories at the Critérium International and Tour de Wallonie.
