British Cycling member Martin Joy will be enjoying next year’s Olympic track cycling live at the London Velodrome after winning a pair of tickets for the event as well as a signed Great Britain Cycling Team skin suit from the Beijing Olympics.

“We were absolutely delighted, we weren’t expecting it,” said Martin, who was the winner of the ‘Bring a Friend to British Cycling’ campaign.

“We actually applied for some tickets for the Olympics in the velodrome but didn’t get any so we weren’t expecting to see the action first hand - getting the tickets was a wonderful surprise. We have also got tickets to the Paralympic track event so to get these tickets as well was the icing on the cake. We are over the moon to go to the velodrome and see the athletes in action, it’s very exciting,” Martin added, who is taking his wife to the Olympic Velodrome.

Martin, who is a member of the Southend Wheelers Cycling Club, also won a Great Britain Cycling Team skin suit from the Beijing Olympics signed by Sir Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton, Ross Edgar, Ed Clancy and Steven Burke.

“It’s hanging up on the wall at the moment looking very fine. We’ve managed to work out all the names on it which is great.”

“My wife and I are both members of Southend Wheelers Cycling Club. I have a road bike and mainly ride along the sea front at Southend. Joining British Cycling certainly made sense with all the benefits, the news and everything that comes with being a part of British Cycling.

A keen cycling fan, Martin also secured tickets to the UCI London Track World Cup through British Cycling’s Priority Ticket access, which offered members the chance to get tickets to the now sold out event before they went on general sale.

“We are definitely going to that, we went on the British Cycling site and managed to get some which was very good.”

British Cycling members will get another opportunity in the new year to gain access to the Olympics when our ticket ballot takes place. This draw will give you an opportunity to buy face-value tickets for the cycling events in London 2012.

More information about the draw will be included in your weekly Member News so make sure that you check it out. If you currently are not receiving Member News each week, please email the Membership Team at membership@britishcycling.org.uk.
