But every ride, from the daily commute to a pan-continental epic gives Ben the same buzz.

What kind of riding do you do?

Road racing, daily commute, bicycle touring. On the 22 August 2015 I am flying to Yellowknife, Canada to start a solo PanAmerica bicycle tour to the southern tip of Argentina. This will be a six-month cycle tour covering around 100 miles per day and a total of around 15,000 miles! Follow Ben's tour via Twitter.

What do you enjoy most about cycling?

The complete sense of freedom that travel on a bicycle gives. I get this feeling whenever I get on a bike, whether it’s my daily commute to work or if it is a multi-month tour in the wilds.

What’s your favourite ride?

My favourite ride so far was probably through the Carpathian Mountains of Romania – the Transfăgărășan, a windy mountain pass, sticks in my memory!

What’s your top cycling tip to share?

We all love bike bling but remember it’s not a necessity – when it comes to having fun, it can be had on any type of bike!

If you had a tandem, who would you like to ride it with?

Taylor Phinney – his recent return to the pro peloton is an inspiration.
