Ray would love to join the great Eddy Merckx on a tandem ride - perhaps even taking in the parcours of the Tour of Flanders.

Name: Ray Green
Age:
70
From:
Harrow, Middlesex

Kenton Road Club

What kind of riding do you do?
Very slow “training” I just do the same as I’ve done for the last fifty five years, try and follow a wheel and hurt myself a little bit.

What do you enjoy most about cycling?
I am a keen race follower, I love the Tour of Flanders, and if you have done some racing you can understand what the pros are feeling.

What’s your favourite ride?
I grew up in Southport, Lancs and I loved the ride to the Trough of Bowland, it is about 75 miles. My late club mate Bill Bradley (double Tour of Britain winner) would do it in the evening after work but I was never up for that!

What’s your top cycling tip to share?
In winter if you are not cold for the first five minutes you are wearing too much.

If you had a tandem, who would you like to ride it with?
Eddy Merckx, doesn’t everyone?
