British Cycling and Lazer Sport have teamed up and launched a new collection of helmets, which are now in stock and available to buy - with a 10% discount for British Cycling members until Sunday 10 May.
The collection includes the Z1 and Wasp Air, which are worn by the Great Britain Cycling Team. Lazer Sport is the official helmet supplier to the Great Britain Cycling Team and the elite riders will use Lazer’s high-performance racing helmets in the run up to the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Z1 is Lazer’s most advanced road helmet to date, featuring a new rear spoiler and T-Pro, or temple protection, as well as deep ventilation channels. The helmet includes an Aeroshell, which can be detached at any time without the need for additional fixings, and improves aerodynamic performance whilst protecting the rider from the elements.
The Wasp Air helmet is currently worn by the Great Britain Cycling Team track athletes. It is the result of extensive wind tunnel research, scientific insight in aerodynamics and the use of mathematical models. British Cycling believes the Wasp Air to be the most aerodynamic helmet available.
In addition to the Z1 and the Wasp Air, the British Cycling collection includes two brand new helmets; the Cyclone S and the Blade. The Lazer Cyclone S is an all-round helmet that offers great protection and comfort. The Lazer Blade combines great looks with high performance in a compact package, while providing improved fit and adjustability through an advanced Rollsys fit system.
Double European champion track cyclist, Katie Archibald, said: “I’m chuffed that British Cycling is partnering with Lazer to create a superior helmet that we can feel confident about and put our trust in. I really like the Rollsys system on the helmets, which adds a lot of comfort. It doesn’t just tighten at the back, it provides full head support and makes a big difference.”
Lazer helmets have among the lowest drag of any helmet on the market and the brand is synonymous with innovation. Guido De Bruyne, head of research at Lazer, said:
“First and foremost we focus on safety. Collaborating with universities and working closely with other high technology brands throughout Europe, we continue to develop our insight to create helmets that meet the highest safety standards. Next, we focus on weight and efficiency, especially within the elite sporting environment. We aim to manufacture helmets that are so comfortable you don’t feel you’re wearing them.
“We also pay close attention to both the thermal and physical comfort of our helmets. Studying the thermal physiology of the human head allows us to shape Lazer helmets so they provide maximum comfort and safety. For physical comfort, we focus on collecting insights on the head shapes of as many people as possible to build a 3D impression of the population and get closer to our goal of individualised helmets.”
