Event Overview

New event for 2013 the ‘Valleys Velo Sportive’ is an end of season sportive that brings together, spectacular rolling mountain scenery, with  classic climbs, brilliant  views and fast testing descents as it threads its way through the ex mining landscape of the South Wales Valleys.

The area and route already steeped history and a cycling pedigree which arcs back to the famous ‘Linton Brothers’ of the 1900’s and more recent ‘Milk Race’ of the 80’s  and even more recent ‘Tour of Britain’, which passes through only a week before.

There are two routes a 70k and 95k longest route of Valleys Velo may only be 95km long but there are a total of six major hills with almost 6000ft of climbing which yes includes the epic climbs of the Bwlch, Rhigos and Maerdy but also many more hidden gems a waiting to challenge you.

All participants remember to download route cards and maps from the website Overnight accommodation is available from £10.00 per night (Camping). Caravan accommodation consists of 35 hard standing pitches with electric hook ups, an amenity block with showers, laundry, washing up and disposal facilities. Purpose built campsite with 60 tent pitches and electric hook ups and access to amenity block. Hotel accommodation is also available in a 15 bedroom block suitable for families, couples and groups (by prior arrangement). New redesigned Café and Restaurant offers you the opportunity to relax before and after the event.
