Welcome to the Brenig
A very warm welcome to Rhos On Sea CC Brenig Road Race 2013 and thank you to you all for entering and supporting our race.
This year we have a full entry of just over 80 riders which will hopefully mean that no one will have to face the challenging course on their own and should make for a great race for all.
For those returning you will know that what makes the Brenig special is the course itself, for those new to the race and area you are in for a real treat. I think it's fair to say that there are not many races now that offer a route that doesn't have multi laps of the whole circuit. In these days of Health and Safety and Risk assessments etc it's great to put on a race that offers a pure road riding experience.
Please take care on the fast descents if you don't know the roads, there are some very sharp bends and junctions to catch you out ! And I don't want ANY of you to meet my St Johns guys following the race.
If you don't know the course it may well be worth you warming up over towards Colomondy Industrial estate where you will find the finish line adjacent to the green pillar near the top of the slight rise, a welcome sight after 65 miles of hard work !.
I have also stuck with the tradition of previous organisers that as a Club we do not make ANY profit from the race, choosing instead to reward you, the riders, with prize money. With £600 of prize money being handed out I thought it only fair to try and reward as many of you as possible for all your efforts hence smaller amounts to more riders in each category.
The HQ this year will be at Denbigh leisure center, which has good changing facilities and parking – signing on will be from 9 till 10.30, PLEASE DO NOT WEAR CLEATS in the studio where signing on takes place, this is a brand new studio and has fantastic wooden flooring !!.
Please note, unfortunately there is no cafe or food facilities at the leisure center but there are a number of good cafes around Denbigh.
Riders brief will be at 10.45, with the race rolling out at 11 AM.
There will be a short presentation 20min to half an hour after the last man crosses the line at the leisure center, to hand out trophies to the winner of each Cat and prize money.
I will post the start sheet showing your numbers tomorrow.
Thanks again and have a good safe ride.
