Info for Riders

The Ty Hapus Bwlch Challenge is a thoroughly enjoyable route with some of the most thrilling descents and toughest climbs in Wales. It starts in the iconic Millennium Stadium in the centre of Cardiff, winding its way west on the A48 passing through Bridgend and Pyle to Port Talbot. After the first feed station at the 30 mile point, the route climbs steadily up the Afan Valley round long sweeping alpine bends to the top of the Bwlch. From there the scenery is breathtaking especially when looking towards the Brecon Beacons. Here, at the 50 mile point, the final feed station will be located. The run back into Cardiff includes two hidden and very testing ascents before a finish within the beautiful Bute Park. In total approx 75 miles and 5,500 ft of climbing. All event proceeds go to Ty Hapus, the first respite project of its type in the UK. It looks after those with early onset Alzheimer's disease and is a lifeline for the families caring for those suffering with dementia.
