Event Summary

Event Overview

Grass track racing at the historic grass velodrome around the cricket oval in Roundhay Park. The only type of velodrome now running in Yorkshire.

The league can offer vital track experience for older riders age cat U14 and above where you can earn national points (especially now York Velodrome and Quibell Park in Scunthorpe are out of use) and fun racing for Under 12s while still being competitive.

We offer  racing for children ages 4 up to 16 and Adults. Those born 2013 or later ride freewheel bikes with brakes and off road tyres (No Slicks/Road Tyres) and those born 2012 and earlier ride fixed wheel track bikes. See the About Tab for more info. .

Track and road stars who have started their track cycling careers racing in the league include Tom Pidcock (Olympic MTB Champion), Sam Watson (INEOS), Lizzie Deignan, Matt Rotherham World Para Olympic Tandem Champion, Tom Rotherham, Ollie Wood (Great Britain Cycling Team), , Jake and Becky Womersley - both professional cyclists and a host of stars from the past. This league gives National Road and Track Points at the end of the series and at the regional championships run for youths and adults.

Under 8/10/12 ride freewheel bikes with brakes and off road tyres (No Slicks/Road Tyres) and Under 14/16 and adults use fixed wheel track bikes with grasstrack/cyclo cross tyres (No Slicks).

Under 16's pay a one off registration fee of £10 and Over 16's £20. There is then a weekly race fee. Track bikes are available to hire -Please contact the organiser Mandy in advance of the season starting or at least two weeks before you intend to race to book a hire bike (Fixed Wheel Only).

Minimum 3 races for U8/10/12 and 5 for all other categories.
