Event Overview

Welcome to the Hooton Go-ride Cycling Group, formerly known as Hooton Bike Club and Wirral Cycling Development Group. The group is supported by 5 clubs, Birkenhead North End CC, Chester Road Club, New Brighton CC, Port Sunlight Wheelers and Mersey Tri club.

Youth coaching sessions are held weekly during the season at Hooton Park Go Karting circuit, West Road, Hooton, Wirral, starting at 6.00pm on Thursday evenings, conducted by qualified coaches, for children aged from 3 to 15, on any type of bicycle or balance bike, for a fee of £6.00 per rider, with a maximum of £15.00 per family.
 
Every rider should wear a cycling helmet and ride a serviceable bike, wear suitable shoes and clothing appropriate to the prevailing weather. Cycle mitts are recommended.
Cancellation for bad weather will be notified on our Facebook page, and by WhatsApp for registered subscribers.

Our aims are:-
1. To allow under 15s to develop their riding skills in safe riding conditions.
2. To prepare youngsters for Bikeability training at school, or to build on that training and encourage the skills and confidence needed for commuting to school by bicycle.
3. To introduce older riders to group riding.
4. To point advanced riders to other cycle related areas of interest such as BMX, cyclo-cross, mountain biking, circuit racing, time trialling, or track.
5. Our Thursday evening sessions at Hooton run typically from May to mid September, followed by Saturday morning rides with parents on the Wirral Circular Trail from September to December, weather permitting.
6. School groups or adult groups welcome by arrangement.
