Event Overview

The MV Bike Park Kids MTB Series will be based on the Go-Ride Race format. Round 1 will take place on Wednesday April 10th at MV Bike Park Caerphilly hosted by MV Bike Park and Sunset Cycles and supported by Welsh Cycling.

The event is open to kids from 6 to 14 no matter their ability or bike, provided they have a helmet and their bike is in good working order. There is a category for boys and girls in each group. At each round Podium/prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each category, with an overall podium for the top 3 in the series based on a series points system from entry to each race.

Cross Country Mountain Bike racing is off-road cycle racing which takes place in a variety of off-road venues. Mountain Bike racing is often held in parkland, woodland, and forestry sites. These venues are designed to include climbs, decent and other technical features.

About the Event

Info for Riders

The series is open to anyone within the age range, designed as entry level events to promote cycling and racing to kids in South Wales. Races will be split into boys and girls category’s. The category’s will be:

Under 8s

Under 10s

Under 12s

Under 14s

 

The MV Bike Park café will be open during the event for drinks and snacks.

 

Entry fee per race is £5.00 online at British Cycling website (plus £1.00 admin fee), or £6.00 on the day. Online entry closes at 2300 on Monday 8th April.

 

Race 1 – XC/Grit - Wednesday April 10th

Short fast laps around a designated gravel based trail with a set number of laps for each age group.

Also a timed lap on the Pump Track.

 

Race 2 - XC - Wednesday May 8th

Laps around a designated MTB trail with a set number of laps for each age group.

Also a timed lap on the Pump Track, or a timed lap of the grass Slalom track (weather permitting).

 

Race 3 - Enduro - Wednesday June 19th

Timed runs on a number of trails with each category all racing the same trails. The result is based on the total time from each trail added together.

 

Podiums and Overall Series

At each round the top 3 girls and boys will be awarded a medal at the Podium presentation.

The 3 rounds of XC/Grit, XC and Enduro will each count towards the series overall with points from each race, and the points table shown on the MV Senders socials after each round.

At the final round the overall series top 3 of the girls and boys in each age group will be announced, and a trophy awarded to each series winner.

1645-1730 – Registration, in the café.

1740 – Practice, all age groups. A lap of the race track by a lead rider so all entrants have a course practice.

 

Under 8s

1800 – XC Race.

1845 – Pump Track Timed Lap.

 

Under 10s

1820 – XC Race.

1850 – Pump Track Timed Lap.

 

Under 12s

1800 – Pump Track Timed Lap.

1845 – XC Race.

 

Under 14s

1805 – Pump Track Timed Lap.

1905 – XC Race.

 

1930 – Podiums.
