The Cumberland Cobbler 2024

Closed Circuit , Silloth – Saturday, 08 Jun 2024

Event Summary

Event Overview

Following the success of last year's inaugural event closed circuit town centre racing returns to the pretty seaside town of Silloth as part of Cumberland Council's  Solway Coast Festival of Cycling.

This year we have a new route with more of the Circuit on tarmac but this is still a tight, technically demanding course with a significant stretch of cobbles and a lot of corners to test your skills.

As an addition to last year's programme we will be starting the day with a short time trial for our youngest riders, allowing them to experience the Circuit in a low risk way, then this will be followed by a bunch race for Youth  A & B riders.

After lunch we have 3 adult races - a Regional B race for Category 3 and 4 riders, and National B races for both men and women.

There will be lots of other fun cycling activities, amusements and food stalls as part of the wider festival. There should be something for everyone at the festival from tots on balance bikes to our Nat B racers. There'll be lots to see and do when you're not racing.

We are extremely grateful to the local councils and townspeople of Silloth for allowing us to hold this event. We would encourage participants to explore the area and patronise local businesses during the day.

There is more to Cumbria than the Lake District so come and enjoy the beautiful Solway Coast and tackle this challenging race!

About the Event

Info for Riders

We have taken every effort to make this a safe and enjoyable event but please be aware that a large proportion of these races takes place on cobbles and consider your experience and skill levels before entering. The Regional B and Youth races are open to non BC members on payment of an extra fee for a day licence but we would strongly recommend that you only enter if you do have significant prior race experience. This is NOT a suitable course for your first race.

Numbers will be limited due to the nature of the course, and entries will initially be limited to one race per rider. If you are eligible for both the Regional B and National B races please only enter one. If places remain after the closing date entry into more than one race may be available at the organiser's discretion.

Please choose your equipment with care, especially with regard to tyre width and pressure.

Slight changes may be made to timings and a detailed programme for the day will be provided in the Race Manual which will be distributed electronically after the closing date.

Online pre entry only - no entries on the day. Entries close 2 weeks before the event. If places remain after the closing date late entries may be accepted at the discretion on the organiser and a late entry surcharge of one third of the on time online entry cost will be applied. Save money and book on time!
