Event Overview
Kicking off the South Downs Series Hill Climbs for 2023 and specifically for Youth riders. This event is a fun and social introduction to Hill Climbing. Riders who want to take their hill climbing skills to the next level can go on to join other series events and be in the running to win series titles such as Prince or Princess of the Downs.
This annual event is open to all riders up to 16 years old, no club attachment is required.
The course is short and relatively straight and safe from traffic - it's the ideal introduction to hill climbing or a great place for experienced riders to set good times.

Info for Riders
About the Hill Climb...
This is a Time Trial! Young riders are set off at 1 minute intervals to cover a short course of 800 meters with an average gradient of 3%. Its perfect for young riders to get a taste of racing while staying safe. Older riders will be looking for a KOM or a QOM. There are prizes for age categories and riders over the age of 12 will score points in the South Downs Hill Climb series and get the chance to ride events with some serious athletes in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere.
Getting to the course...
Riders and carers can meet at St Peter's Church in Brighton at 9.00am and ride along the seafront as a group to the event start point. A volunteer organiser will be there to lead the way.
Sign on from 10am. First rider will set off at 10.30am
