Manilla XP Go Ride Race Series

Closed Circuit , Hartlepool – Tuesday, 18 Jul 2023

Event Summary

Event Overview

The Manilla XP series is a new cycling race event where participation and success in cycling racing events earns riders Experience Points (XP). Inspired by the world of gaming, we want young riders to get involved with cycling racing and to be rewarded for gaining the experience of racing regardless of whether they win or lose. There is something to learn and gain for everyone, whether they are seasoned racers, or giving it a go for the first time. Run under the British Cycling Go Ride banner at Hartlepool's excellent Summerhill Circuit, you can be confident that the Manilla team of qualified coaches and volunteers will bring the best out of all riders.

Who can ride

Any rider who was under 16 on 31st December 2022 can participate. We do ask that riders are capable of riding confidently on their own. The overall series will be split into age group categories, but races will be based on ability, not just age.

About the Event

Info for Riders

How do riders gain XP?

Riders gain XP simply by participating in races. By competing in events, riders will gain XP. By demonstrating skills necessary for racing, riders will be awarded XP and they will also be awarded greater XP for success in races. While we believe in rewarding riders for their success for placing highly in races, we know that simply competing is a huge step for many riders. Everybody who gains the experience of racing will gain XP. Points for their real life experiences.

What happens with XP

The more XP riders gain, the more progress they make towards "Levelling Up". Riders start at level 1 and build their XP to rise through the levels. The highest level is 6. Only the riders who demonstrate the highest skills with the best performances will reach this level, but all riders who participate will progress through the levels as the series progresses. Riders will have their XP updated in real time and will receive instant rewards for success with prizes for achieving each level. Results will also be published on Manilla Cycling's website and social media channels, unless requested otherwise.

What about the overall series

Boys and girls in each age category with the most XP gained throughout the series will be rewarded, with the top 3 riders in each group being recognised.

What to expect from races

Each race night will have 3 races. These will be a mixture of timed events, bunch racing and team events that will develop the attributes needed in a variety of races.

How much is it

Entry fee is £5 or £4 for Manilla Cycling members. Membership subscriptions can be used against the XP Race series

When is it?

The races will run every 2 weeks from 6pm starting on Tuesday 6th June. In the week before each race, there will be a training session (Youth Hour) where riders will have the chance of familiarising themselves with what to expect at the race the following week.
