The Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome (FHHV) are delighted to present the Youth Team Track Champs for U16/U14 in 2023 again after a year break. With youth riders usually competing on an individual basis, this is a great event to give them the experience and fun of racing as a team. It's a terrific format that has produced some great racing in previous years. 

This year we're introducing a special event - Mixed Madison, and also running a support event - individual omnium for U12/U10 riders.

Youth Team Track Champs

Youth Boys will be competing in the teams of 4 (U16/U14 riders), Youth Girls will be competing in the teams of 3 (U16/U14 riders).

Teams may represent their club/region, use guest or be composite in nature.

Please enter only once you have the full team roster confirmed, as you'll be required to enter the team name during the registration, and incomplete team entries won't be accepted. Entry fee is per rider (not per team).

Individual riders without a team should feel free to email the organizer, and we'll do our best to help you find a spot on a team.

All riders on a team must have matching jerseys. If there are multiple teams representing the same club, then each team should have different jerseys so they can be separately identified. 

U14 riders are allowed to use U16 gearing for the event, but not deep section wheels (BC rule of 35mm max rim depth applies for U14s).

 

The Race Format will be as follows :

1. Sprint (200m TT qualifiers)

2. Individual Pursuit 2km

3. Scratch

4. Keirin

5. Elimination

6. Madison

7. Team Pursuit

For the Girls teams, 1 rider from each team will compete in the sprint, individual pursuit, and keirin, and 2 riders in the madison, scratch, and elimination, and all team members will make up the team pursuit.

For the Boys teams, 2 riders from each team will compete in each event and all team members will make up the team pursuit.

Each rider must compete in 3 events plus the team pursuit. 

Mixed Madison (not part of Team Champs)

We're excited to bring this new race format to the event, as it promises to be great fun for riders and spectators alike!

Madison pairs will include one U16/U14 Boy rider and one U16/U4 Girl rider. Same rules re gearing and wheel depth apply for U14s. Riders must register individually, but will need to enter partner's name during the the registration. 

U12/U10 Omnium - individual event for younger riders comprised of usual races.
