Midsummer Breeze Sportive

OnRoad Leisure , Hawick – Sunday, 25 Jun 2023

Event Summary

Event Overview

We've had such positive feedback about our event so the Hawick Belles Breeze Group are delighted to invite you once again to join them and other women to cycle on quiet roads in the Scottish Borders, taking in the breathtaking scenery our borderland has to offer.

There are two options, 27 miles or 42 miles. Entries open on the British Cycling website on the 14th February 2023 priced at £29.00 plus booking fee.  Entries close 14th May 2023.

There will be a maximum entry of 150 and because we are raising money for charities there will be no refunds if you're unable to attend.

There will be a feed station on route, food/refreshments at the end and a wee momento for every participant.

Registration will be at The Pavillion Cafe in Wilton Park, Hawick which is also where you can refuel after your pedal.

The route will be signed and will take you round the town then out of Hawick with a steady climb up Cogsmill onto Earlside. Along the quiet roads you can enjoy the views of Ruberslaw and on a clear day, the Eildons. There will be some lovely wee surprises along the way and be rewarded with a lovely descent with more stunning views, as you head towards Bedrule and onwards to Denholm where the feedstation will be before the route splits.

The longer route will split after the feedstation and onwards to Ancrum and then to Lilliesleaf before the return leg back to Hawick along Horsleyhill.

The shorter route will go straight on from the feedstation heading up Hassendean onto Horsleyhill and back into Hawick.

The route is rolling with a few climbs but it's all in the challenge. When you've company, great scenery and quiet roads, it will fly by.

There are village shops, pubs and cafes at Denholm, Ancrum and Lilliesleaf should you need anything else on route.

This year we are raising money for two worthwhile causes, the Marie Curie Hawick Fundraising Group and The Jumbulance Trust and with the help of our many volunteers, we’re sure to bring you another fantastic event. We hope you will join us and help more women get on their bikes while helping great local charities.
